Livelihood development program for the backward people

 Backward people are a small part of the total population of Bangladesh. According to a survey conducted by the Department of Social Services, the backward population in Bangladesh is about 14,90,000. The present government has undertaken various activities to improve the living standards of the backward people and to integrate them into the mainstream of the society. In the fiscal year 2019-20, this program has been separated and is being conducted as a separate program called "Living Quality Improvement Program for Backward Classes".

 

Backward communities:

 Backward community or class who are socially and educationally backward people. They are known as the most neglected, isolated, neglected people. The backward people are fishermen, monks, sages, behara, barber, laundress, barber, hairdresser, nikari, patni, kawra, teli, patikar, sweeper, methar or dhangar, domar, dom, raut, and lower class people.

 

Program Brief Background:

From the financial year 2012-2013, 6 districts of the country have been included as a pilot program. The allocation for the financial year 2012-13 was Rs. 600,000 (sixty six lakhs). In the financial year 2013-2014, this program was implemented in 21 districts including 14 new districts and the districts are Dhaka, Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Gopalganj, Faridpur, Sherpur, Tangail, Chittagong, Noakhali, Brahmanbaria, Comilla, Pabna, Naogaon, Dinajpur, Nilpham. Kushtia, Barisal, Bhola, Patuakhali and Habiganj. In the last financial year of this program, an allocation of Rs. This program has been implemented in the previous 21 districts in the financial year 2014-15. The amount allocated in FY 2014-15 was Rs. 9,22,94,000. In the 2015-16 financial year, the program is being implemented in a total of 64 districts by expanding the program to 43 new districts including the previous 21 districts. The amount allocated in the financial year 2017-18 is 20 crore 30 lakh taka. The amount allocated in the financial year 2016-17 is 26 crore taka. The amount of money allocated in the financial year 2018-19 is 50 crore 03 lakh taka. In the financial year 2019-20, the allocation for the development program of the living standard of the backward people is Tk. 57.06 crore. In the fiscal year 2020-21, the allocation for the living standard development program for the backward people is Tk. 57.06 crore. In the fiscal year 2021-22, the allocation for the living standard development program for the backward people is Tk. 57.06 crore.

 

 

Goals and Objectives:

 

Provision of stipends at the level of 4 levels (monthly primary 600, secondary 600, higher secondary 1000 and higher 1200 rupees per person) with the aim of educating and developing the school going backward students;
Bringing the working Vedas and backward people into the mainstream of society by increasing their skills and involving them in income generating activities through vocational training;
Special allowance of Rs. 500 per person per month for disabled and indigent persons aged 50 years and above.
Post-Training Rehabilitation Assistance Rs. 10,000 / - (Ten Thousand).
